Old School RuneScape (OSRS) quests are quite diverse. They can be short or long as well as easy or hard. Some, however, are above the rest when it comes to giving adventurers a challenge. If you have both the time and mettle to take them on, here’s the list that will surely tickle the adventurer in you. Aside from time, patience, and skill, you’re gonna need a substantial amount of OSRS gold with you.
Isn’t It Grand?
In OSRS, quest difficulty isn’t purely a subjective trait. Rather, it has tiers, namely:
- Novice
- Intermediate
- Experienced
- Master
- Grandmaster
For Grandmaster, there are only two quests: Dragon Slayer II and Monkey Madness II. They are deservingly labeled as such due to the sheer amount of requirements for both of them.
Dragon Slayer II is the follow-up to the namesake quest, which was released way back in 2001. Aware of how long this sequel of a quest came after the original, Jagex wrote its background story in such a way that it pays homage to the original one. In-universe, this takes place thirty years after the first Dragon Slayer quest, and involves you revisiting a few places while discovering new ones as well.
It’s a rather long quest that got players going all sorts of places, making it rather epic and worthy of its name.
Monkey Madness II is another Grandmaster quest, and it’s one of those that are more popular compared to others. It’s no surprise why, as the first Monkey Madness is one of the more enjoyable quests in the original RuneScape. Unlike its predecessor and in the same vein as Dragon Slayer II, this quest is more time-consuming, and has players taking on more endeavors.
This is the End
Generally, Grandmaster quests obviously require the most time, effort, brain power, skill levels, and items among them. However, according to the community, the two most difficult quests are Mourning’s End Part II and Regicide, which are both in the Master tier.
To more players, Mourning’s End Part II is the most difficult Old School Runescape (OSRS) quest. It doesn’t require as many items including OSRS gold and high-level skills as other Master and Grandmaster quests, but many players have given it the honor of being the hardest because of its puzzles, which are said to be one of the most difficult to solve, if not the most.
Mourning’s End is the seventh and last quest in the Elf series of quests, so it’s only fitting that Jagex reserved the most difficult one for the finisher. The rewards for it are as follows:
- 2 Quest Points
- 20,000 Agility experience
- Crystal trinket
- Death talisman
- Ability to craft death runes
- Access to Dark Beasts
They are rather appropriate compensation, considering that the quest involves the most perplexing puzzle in all of Gielinor.
The King-Slayer
Last but definitely not the least is Regicide. Some players regard this one as the most difficult one instead. Whether or not it’s actually the case, this quest is without a doubt hard. And like Mourning’s End part 2, it’s also a part of the Elf quest series.
True to its name, your task here is to kill the tyrant King Tyras (much effort there, Jagex). What makes this quite the challenge is that you have to defeat a power level 110 Tyras Guard. Once you got the skills for that, as well as level 56 Agility and 10 Crafting, then it’s time for you to be an assassin.
So, what do you guys think of the so-called “most difficult” quests in OSRS? Do you agree with them, or do you have your own list? If it’s the latter, be sure to tell us about it by dropping a comment below!
